Sunshine

If there is going to be a poster child for the Old Flock's Home it would have to be Sunshine. My son Daniel took this picture of her towards the end of her life and I love it. She had this worn out, well loved teddy bear look to her. Sunshine actually belonged to my oldest son Micah. He bought her as a bottle lamb after realizing that his Romney ewe Snowflake didn't breed that first year. She was one of a set of twins.  She was white obviously and her sister Shadow was black.  The mother rejected Sunshine. It was the only time that ewe rejected one of her lambs and I feel like it was fate because I made a really good friend because of it, the woman we bought Sunshine from. It's a long but interesting story that I might just have to tell you sometime. Sunshine had a fleece that would make you rethink any negative opinions you might have of wool.  It was like 6 inches of silky soft cotton.

She lived to be 16 years old.  She slowly lost her eye sight and could no longer see the electric fence wires.  For her own safety I put her in a pen with Angel my LGD (livestock guardian dog) who was also reaching the end of her long life.  A few weeks after Sunshine passed away Angel passed peacefully too.
