Lipless
I love cats.  I really do!  I'm more of a cat person than I am a dog person.  I don't want them in my house but I still love them.  If you have a barn there really is a need for a barn cat, although I don't have a cat at the moment. We've had several cats over the years, I had a couple that were mine personally as a child.  Our oldest son had a cat Smokey that was a wonderful barn cat but he disappeared.  He just didn't come home one day.  I had decided the next cat we got for the barn was going to be one I picked out since I'm always the one that has to take care of them.  It wasn't meant to be.  My husband was in the woods cutting firewood and found this tiny kitten.  It was so afraid of him but he was finally able to coax it to him and he brought it to the house.  It had what looked like mud on his mouth.  On my way to the barn with him I realized that it wasn't mud but blood and that his lower lip was missing.  Lipless had a name and a home now.  His substitute mother was our Great Pyrenees Angel.  He was a great barn cat.  I don't know what happened but he didn't come home from his daily trips out and about.  When this happens I can't bring myself to think of them any other way than just somewhere else happily chasing mice.
